“Idyll Game,” the theme of this new series of paintings by Stanford Ashcraft, is a playful satire of romance and luxury. Chess pieces, model ships, and elegant costumes appear in these artworks that blend magic and reality with fun and charm.
Influenced by 19th century masters, the surrealists, and classic storybooks, Ashcraft adds his own unique touch--he uses razor blades of various sizes and types to apply paint to his canvases. |
